At the age of 21 Steve Yzerman was named captain of his Detroit Red Wings, a position he held for 20 years until he retired following the 2005-06 season. He retired as the longest-serving captain of any team in sports history. He led his Red Wings to 3 Stanley Cup Championships, in 1997, 1998 and 2002. In 1998, he won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the Playoffs MVP. The 4th overall pick in the 1983 NHL Draft, Steve was a 10 time All-Star and is ranked as the 6th all-time leading scorer in NHL history with 692 goals, 1,062 assists and 1,755 points.
