Nicknamed "Too Tall" because of his 6'9" height, Ed Jones was a key member of the Dallas Cowboys "Doomsday Defense" squad of the 1970's. The first overall pick in the 1974 NFL Draft, "Too Tall" Jones played his entire career with Dallas, beginning in 1974 and retiring in 1989. A 3x Pro Bowl Selection as a defensive end, Ed helped lead Dallas to the Super Bowl XII Championship. He also played on 3 NFC Champion teams. In 1979, Ed Jones retired for 1 year from football to become a professional boxer, in which he went undefeated during his career, going 6-0 with 5 knockouts in 1979 and early 1980 before returning to the Dallas Cowboys.
