George Halas was an owner of The Chicago Bears from 1920-1983. He played for Chicago in the NFL from 1920-1928 after a brief career playing Major League baseball with The New York Yankees in 1919. He was also a coach of The Chicago Bears (formerly The Decatur Staleys and Chicago Staleys) from 1920-1929, 1933-1942, 1946-1955, and 1958-1967. He won six NFL Championships with Chicago in 1921, 1933, 1940, 1941, 1946, and 1963. As a coach, in 1963 and 1965, George Halas was named AP NFL Coach of The Year, The Sporting News Coach of The Year and The UPI NFL Coach of The Year. He was also named to The NFL 1920's All-Decade Team. As a coach with Chicago, his overall record was 318-148-31. He was a charter member of The Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963, and The Hall of Fame is now located on George Halas Drive.
