Dick Butkus was one of
the greatest and most feared linebackers to ever play the game of
football. He was a 2 time All American at the University of Illinois
and then was drafted in 1965 as the Chicago Bears 1st and pick, #3
overall. During his playing career from 1965-1973, Dick was named to 8
Pro Bowls and 5 times was named Associated Press 1st Team All-Pro.
Later on in his career, Dick Butkus was named to the NFL 75th
Anniversary Team, as well as being named to the 1960's All Decade Team
and the 1970's All Decade Team. After his retirement from the NFL, Dick
went on to star in several movies including Necessary Roughness and
Any Given Sunday, as well as appearing in numerous TV shows. Dick
Butkus was elected into the Football Hall of Fame in 1979.
Johnny Unitas, known as the Golden Arm, was selected to 10 Pro Bowls
and was Pro Bowl MVP three times. He led the Baltimore Colts to the NFL
Championship in 1958 in the first overtime game in NFL history, which
was later referred to as "the greatest game ever played" Unitas played
17 seasons in the NFL from 1955-1973, and was the first player ever to
throw for more than 40,000 yards. Considered one of the greatest
quarterbacks to ever play the game he as the NFL's MVP in 1959, 1964,
and 1967. He threw a record 47 consecutive games between 1956-1960 in
which he threw a touchdown pass, a record that still stands today. In
1979, Johnny Unitas was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
