Drafted in the 1st round of the 2003 NBA draft, 3rd overall by the Denver Nuggets, and has led them to the playoffs every year since. On December 10, 2008, Carmelo scored 33 points in one quarter, tying the most points ever scored in a quarter with Hall of Famer, George Gervin. In college with Syracuse University, as a freshman in 2003, he led Syracuse to a 30-5 record and helped deliver the school's first NCAA championship in men's basketball. He was named the Most Outstanding Player (MOP) of the 2003 NCAA Final Four and MVP of NCAA East Regional.
